Highlights from the 2026 MSTPA Mid-Year Conference
The 2026 MSTPA Mid-Year Conference at Auburn University brought together parking, transportation, and mobility professionals from across the region for two days of engaging conversations, hands-on learning, and meaningful connection — and by every measure, it was a tremendous success.
From the very first session, it was clear this year’s event struck a chord. Attendance was strong, discussions were active, and the level of participation reflected an industry eager to collaborate and move forward together.
Where Learning Met Real-World Application
The conference opened with a unique, interactive experience that set the tone for the program. Attendees had the opportunity to step outside education sessions and into the field with a behind-the-scenes tour of Auburn’s parking garage and stadium operations.
This hands-on perspective carried directly into the interactive charrette where participants worked together to evaluate real-world scenarios, share ideas, and explore practical solutions. It was a powerful reminder that some of the most valuable insights come from collaboration.
A Standout Moment: The AI Panel
One of the most highly anticipated sessions of the conference, and one of the most talked about afterward, was the AI Panel Discussion.
With the combination of a knowledgeable panel and an engaged audience, the session sparked a vibrant conversation around how artificial intelligence is beginning to shape parking and mobility operations. Panelists explored not only the opportunities AI presents, but also the challenges, considerations, and real-world applications that organizations are starting to navigate today.
The interaction in the room made one thing clear: AI is no longer a future concept. It’s a topic the industry is actively working to understand and implement.
A Program Built Around Today’s Challenges
The conference continued with a series of sessions focused on the realities professionals are facing across their organizations. From navigating workplace conflict and strengthening leadership skills, to leveraging analytics for smarter decision-making, the program balanced technical insights with operational and organizational strategy.
Highlights included:
Analytics in Action: Smarter Parking, exploring how data can drive more informed decisions
The Leadership Blueprint, focused on building competencies for long-term impact
High Volume Parking’s Impact on Event Operations, addressing the complexities of managing demand at scale
The Behavior Gap, examining the disconnect between system design and user behavior
Each session delivered takeaways that attendees can bring back to their teams and apply immediately.
Looking Ahead
As the 2026 Mid-Year Conference comes to a close, the momentum it created continues. The strong attendance, engaged discussions, and enthusiasm throughout the event reflect an industry that is not only evolving, but actively shaping its future. MSTPA remains committed to creating opportunities for professionals to come together to learn, collaborate, and lead.
We can’t wait to do it again! Stay tuned for more details on our joint conference later this year with the Florida Parking & Transportation Association. This Joint MSTPA / FPTA Conference will be one of the largest industry regional events of the year! Mark your calendars for this fall!
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Auburn. We look forward to continuing the conversation in the months ahead.
