Derrick Davis, Sr. Director of Parking and Transportation, Georgia State University

After working in finance for 15 years and owning a family photography and video business for nearly 10 years, Derrick embarked on his auxiliary services journey at Savannah College of Art and Design as Technical Operations Manager in their ID Card Office for 2.5 years. Derrick then accepted a position with Savannah State University, where he worked as the Parking Manager and Risk & Compliance Manager for 4 years. His next move was to serve as the Director of Parking and Transportation for Georgia Southern University for 6 years where he managed parking operations on the Statesboro, Savannah & Liberty campuses. Georgia Southern has 4 LPR cars, issues virtual permits, issues e-citations to customers through their GS email and uses a web-based app to enforce over 300 daily pay-to-park spaces.

August 1, 2024, Derrick accepted the Sr. Director Parking & Transportation at Georgia State University.  His first big project was to migrate to a new university parking system to better support the 53,000 students, on 5 campuses (including 40,000 students in downtown Atlanta) and fulfilling a $22M Low-No grant for a new fleet of 18 EV buses and bus depot. Derrick and his creative team are always looking to innovate and increase efficiency with new parking technologies.

He is married to his college sweetheart, Lisa, and they three mostly grown children, Lauren, Rachel, and Caleb.  Away from work he enjoys traveling, watching college football, and sampling various local coffee shops..
